Welcome to “Yúmare EcoDevelopment”, our reinvigorated initiative that intertwines the essence of ecotourism with the growth and enhancement of our community. Inspired by the Taino word for waters, “Yúmare”, this program is a tribute to the life-giving force of our aquatic resources and the cultural heritage that flows as deeply as the rivers of the Dominican Republic.
Yúmare EcoDevelopment volunteers contribute time and resources to Service For Peace partner communities through their volunteer experiences linked to ecotourism and community tourism, and the enjoyment of and respect for the environment.
Local Service For Peace partner communities reclaim their authority and power to sustainably enjoy their natural and cultural resources and share their pride in the beauty of their communities with ecotourism volunteers.
