A Giant Step Towards a Sustainable Future: The Visit of Rotary Quisqueya and Rotary Santo Domingo Bella Vista 4060 to the El Batey Community

The 2023-2024 president of Rotary Quisqueya, Juan Carlos Perez Fernandez, alongside the director of Service for Peace Dominican Republic, Joan Mateo, and Mr. Ruben Goico, the 2023-2024 Governor of District 4060 of Rotary International and member of Rotary Santo Domingo Bella Vista Dominican Republic.

On the past 2nd and 3rd of September, the El Batey community had the honor of receiving distinguished visitors who came to witness the transformative change taking place in the region. Among them were the 2023-2024 president of Rotary Quisqueya, Juan Carlos Perez Fernandez, and Mr. Ruben Goico, the Governor of District 4060 of Rotary International and member of Rotary Santo Domingo Bella Vista Dominican Republic. They were warmly welcomed by the representatives of the “La Nueva Esperanza” Neighborhood Council and the director of Service for Peace Dominican Republic, Joan Mateo.

During their visit, the Rotary representatives were able to closely learn about the projects that the Neighborhood Council is working hard on, always with the valuable advice of Service for Peace. One of the highlights was their participation in the installation process of the innovative “Water Harvest” system, an initiative that promises to revolutionize water access in the community. This project was carried out thanks to the sponsorship of Wine to Water, under the supervision of its director Sasha Miranda, who exchanged information with the Rotarians for future projects in conjunction with Service for Peace.

President Juan Carlos Perez Fernandez and Governor Ruben Goico not only offered their support but also shared valuable ideas and perspectives that can help take these projects to new horizons. Their presence not only symbolized Rotary’s solidarity and support for these initiatives but also reaffirmed the commitment to work together towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.

This visit was not only an opportunity to share and learn but also a celebration of the community spirit and collaboration that drives El Batey towards a bright future. It is a living testimony of how unity and collaboration can transform entire communities, providing not only access to vital resources but also education and empowerment.

We deeply thank Rotary Quisqueya and Rotary Santo Domingo Bella Vista for their visit and their ongoing commitment to the sustainable development of our community. Together, we are building a brighter future for all!

Lots of love present in these happenings. Rotarians are good at bringing the A game when it comes to loving our neighbors
